Besides the above, two new STPs one each at Perungudi (60 MLD capacity) and Nesapakkam (54 MLD capacity) are under construction under JNNURM. CMWSS Board has made arrangements for receiving domestic sewage through tanker lorries for treatment and disposal at Nesapakkam and Perungudi Sewage Treatment Plants. As such domestic sewage from the Septic tanks from the Sub-Urban area where sewerage system is not available is received for Treatment at the Nesapakkam and Perungudi STPs. However the Industrial effluent is not accepted for which Industries should have their own treatment units. At present CMWSSB accepts domestic sewage on all days at the rate of Rs 100/- per lorry load. On an average, each day about 120 lorry trips are received at Perungudi STP and another 80 lorry trips at Nesapakkam STP. The lorries for conveyance of domestic sewage to the Sewage Treatment Plants has to be arranged and paid by the individuals.
