ELECTRONIC CLEARING SERVICE

Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board is pleased to inform that it has introduced a new method of Water & Sewerage Tax/Charges payment with the concurrence of Reserve Bank of India which assures Assessees/Consumers an option to pay their Half Yearly Water/Sewerage Tax and Charges directly through their Bank Account.

In the new system, Assessees/Consumer's Bank would issue payment instruction electronically to the Sponsor Bank appointed by the Chennai Metrowater.  The branch will credit Assessees/Consumers Account directly and an Electronic Clearing Service entry will appear in Assessees/Consumers Pass Book.  Assessees/Consumers shall treat this entry as proof of payment of Water & Sewerage Tax/Charges to Chennai Metrowater.  However, a payment advice will also be issued to Assessees/Consumers before the end of the month in which the payment has been made.

If Assessees/Consumers maintain more than one account, payment can be made from any of these accounts.  Assessees/Consumers do not have to open any new account for the purpose.

This would be only an additional mode of payment and would be optional.  Assessees/Consumers would have the right to withdraw from this mode of payment by giving an advance notice of two months.

If Assessees/Consumers are agreeable to participate in the new payment mechanism, Assessees/Consumers are requested to fill in the Mandate Form which are available at our Area Offices concerned or download the form from our website www.chennamimetrowater.com. to avail this facility.  The information furnished should be accurate and complete in all respect and duly certified by Assessees/Consumer's Bank.  The Mandate application duly filled in all respect only will be accepted at concerned Area Offices of Chennai Metrowater.

All information furnished by Assessees/Consumers shall be kept confidential and would be utilised only for the purpose of effecting payment of water & sewerage tax/Water Charges and Sewerage Services Charges to Chennai Metrowater from Assessees/Consumer's account by Bankers concerned.

This mode of payment of water & sewerage tax/charges & sewerage services charges to Chennai Metrowater will be highly beneficial to Assessees/Consumers since they need not wait in queue at Cash Counters to make payment.  It shall also avoid Assessees/Consumers to visit Bank or other Chennai Metrowater Cash Counter at Area/Depot Offices and Head Office to pay their Water & Sewerage Tax, Water Charges & Sewerage Services Charges.

It shall further ensure that water/sewerage tax/charges is paid well within the stipulated time and save Assessees/Consumers from levy of surcharge.
