Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has proposed to carry out interconnection work with the existing main at Basin Bridge road western end and at the junction of Mint street and Basin Bridge road at eastern end near Mint Bus Terminus said Managing Director, Metro Water.

He further stated that , in view of the proposed construction of Mint Road Over Bridge at Mint junction near Mint Bus Terminus, the existing water main has been shifted away from ROB alignment.

In order to effect water supply through the rerouted main, it is proposed to take up the interconnection work with the existing main at Basin Bridge road western end and at the junction of Mint street and Basin Bridge road at eastern end on 23rd and 24th February 2012 by taking shut down of piped water supply on the day of interconnection work.

Consequently, there won't be piped water supply on 24th and 25th February 2012 for the public residing in Royapuram, Old & New Washermenpet, Tondiarpet covering Divisions 42,43, 47 & 48 of Area-IV and 49, 50,51,52,53 & 54 of Area V and Area VI in divisions 73 & 77. As such, the public residing in the above locations are advised to store sufficient water in advance.
