Registration Process for New Water

1	Objective	To register water and sewer applications
2	Eligibility for Registration	i)For the buildings having plans sanctioned by CMDA / Corporation of Chennai / Local Authority. a) Copies of Letters seeking for assessment of the buildings to Revenue Department of Corporation of Chennai and for water and sewerage tax to CMWSSB. b)Advance tax of Rs.3000/- to be paid per dwelling. ii) Notice issued to assessment of Property tax with floorwise assessment details and copies of water and sewerage tax paid receipts are to be enclosed. If not assessed, advance tax of Rs.3000/- has to be paid.
3	Pre requisites (if any)	Name of the applicant or the owner must be matched with the name of the tax receipt or property document
4	Contact information for applying	The consumer can contact any of CMWSS Board’s Depot office, Area office or Head office for information and also can visit Website @ chennaimetrowater.com.
5	Application fee	NIL
6	Other fees	Connection charges for one dwelling Water & Sewer respectively Residential–Independent house upto G+1 upto 200 sq.m. Rs.1930/- Rs.3395/- All other buildings / Flats upto 200 sq.m. Rs.2530/- Rs.4790/- Non Residential Category A upto 100 sq.m. per dwelling Rs. 2530/- Rs.4790/- Category B upto 50 sq.m. per dwelling Rs. 2530/- Rs.4790/- Category C upto 25 sq.m. per dwelling Rs. 2530/- Rs.4790/- Shifting or Renewal of existing connection Rs. 2530/- Rs.4790/-

7	Application form	Plain white paper application will not be entertained since CMWSSB has provided printed prescribed application form in English and Tamil which is issued at Head office, Area office and all Depot offices at free of cost.
8	List of enclosures/documents	a) Application form duly filled & signed by the applicant b) Original challan for having paid Connection charges c) Copy of plan sanctioned by CMDA/Corporation of Chennai/Local Authority, d)Copy of notice issued for assessment of property tax with floor wise assessment details e) If not assessed, copies of letters seeking assessment of property tax, water and sewerage tax f) sketch in triplicate showing internal plumbing works g) Proof of having paid taxes/charges upto date (photocopies to be enclosed) h) Declaration by applicant that the building has been provided with rain water harvesting arrangements
9	Format of enclosures/ documents	As per Sl.No. 8
10	Procedure of application	The applicant has to fill the application with requisite enclosures and apply at Head office at Registration section for registering the application and water & sewer application number will be allotted by Registration wing at Head office.
11	Process followed in the public authority after the receipt on application	After receipt of application from the applicant, it will be forwarded to Area office for processing and effecting the connection after verification of building at site. The sanctioned work order will be issued within 7 days and connection will be effected within 30 days from the date of registration.
12	Validity period of Registration	No fixed validity period

5	Other fees / charges	Connection charges as per category wise. Upto G+1 upto 2000 sq.ft. charges are Rs.1930 and Rs.3395 for water & sewer respectively and for other buildings charges are Rs.2530 and Rs.4790 per one dwelling.

Brief description of terms used in the bills

Residential–Independant house upto G+1 upto 200 sq.m.

All other buildings / Flats upto 200 sq.m. Non Residential

Category A-Offices, Hospitals with in-patient facilities, Cinema Theatres, Factories, Consulting room, Educational Institutions without Boarding and Lodging, Shoping / Commercial complex – For every 100 sq.m. – one dwelling unit

Category B – Hotels, Restaurants, Educational Institutions with Hostels, Lodging Houses, Marriage Hall, Hospitals with Lab & Diagnostic facilities – For every 50 sq.m. – one dwelling unit

Category C – Hospitals with in-patient facilities – For every 25 sq.m.-one dwelling unit

Shifting or Renewal of existing connection – one dwelling unit

An applicant can refer the WA No. and SA No. with registration date for any lapses in service connection for clarification either to concerned Area Engineer or Registration wing at Head office.
