PROVIDING SEWERAGE FACILITIES TO PALLAVARAM MUNICIPALITY

             The Pallavaram Municipality comprises of the revenue villages Issa Pallavaram, Zamin Pallavaram, Keezhkattalai, Nemilicherry and Hastinapuram.  The Municipal area is divided into 42 wards.  The total area of the Municipality is 18 sq Kilometer.  The length of the road is approximately 180 K.M.  The present population is about 1.44 lakhs.

            The proposal of providing sewerage system in Pallavaram consists of gravity collection system, construction of pumping stations and laying of force main. The sewage generated is proposed to be pumped to the sewage treatment plant at Perungudi under the control of CMWSS Board for treatment and disposal.

            Based on the contour of the Pallavaram area, the sewerage system is divided into 12 zones.  Providing sewerage system to Pallavaram Area is executed into 5 packages for simultaneous and expeditions  execution of the work.   Packages 1, 2 and 3 are for providing collection system.  Package-4 consists of construction of 2 lift stations and 2 Sub-pumping stations.  Package-5 consists of construction of main Pumping station and laying of conveying main from the pumping station to the sewage treatment plant at Perungudi.  The details of works in each of the packages are furnished below:

Package – I:

Providing collection system in 20 wards covering an extent of 351.37 hectares.  This will serve a projected population of 101225 in the year 2036.  The work involves laying of stoneware pipes and RCC pipes for a length of  50.45 km and construction of 1749 manholes.  The work is entrusted to M/s. Subaya Construction Co., Ltd., Chennai, for a contract value of Rs. 7,18,44,235/-.  The work is under progress.

 Package – II:

Providing collection system in 25 wards covering an extent of 585 hectares.  This will serve projected population of 1,07,751 in the year 2036.  The work involves laying of S.W pipes & RCC Pipes for a length of 90 km and construction of 3101 manholes.  The work is entrusted to M/s. IVRCL Infrastructures Limited, Chennai, for a contract value of Rs.13,18,22,795/-.  The work is under progress.

 Package – III

Providing collection system in 13 wards covering an extent 501 hectares.  This will serve projected population of 36438 in the year 2036.  The work involves laying of S.W pipes & RCC Pipes for a length of 45.7 km and construction of 1638 manholes.  The work is entrusted to M/s. Sekar Deepak Construction Limited, Chennai, for a contract value of Rs, 6,85,14,339/-.  The work is under progress.

 Package-IV

         The work involves construction of 2 pumping stations and 2 lift pumping stations and laying of conveying main of 150mm dia for a length of 4 km.  The work also involves providing back up power through DG set in each of the pumping stations.  The work is entrusted to M/s. Kirloskar Brothers Ltd., Chennai for a contract value of Rs.1,99,01,365/-. The work is under progress.

 Package-V:

             The work involves constructions of main sewage pumping station in  Keezhakattalai and laying of conveying main of 1000mm dia PSC pipes for a length of about 8.6 km.  The work is entrusted to M/s. P&C Construction Private LTD., Chennai, for a contract value of Rs.7,66,31,881/-.

                     Based on Public Interest Litigation, the contract is foreclosed.  An alternate location outside Keezhkattalai lake has been finalized for Main Sewage Pumping Station.  Detailed Project Report of the revised proposal of 18 mld capacity Main Sewage Pumping station for Pallavaram Sewerage Scheme has been prepared .  Tenders called for the revised proposal of 18 mld capacity main sewage pumping station.
